Ursula Huth
Here's a poster of one of Ursula Huth's drawings followed by one of her windows. Any comments welcome... go on, you know you want to!
The first one is a drawing, the second glass. Although it's not the same image, it's interesting to see how she interprets her work through the medium - some qualities are lost and others gained...
on first looking the first one looks as if it could be glass, I like the textures in both of them, more so the 1st one. They both share a similar theme in the way different area are laid out & suggest similar lines.. The 2nd one reminds me of someone harvesting hay, almost a large haystack in the bottom left... would be interesting to see the way she approaches doing cartoons. Is it Mollie Meager that we saw slides of? Her cartoon was very loose & the final piece had very simple leadlines following the drawing. I wonder how Ursula approaches her cartoons & how she considers the leadlines .. (ramble ramble)
The first one is a cartoon - or at least one of Huth's drawings. Might be an interesting exercise to look at some of her drawings and imagine how they could be interpreted in glass... there's a long article about her in Nue Glass (spelling?) in the library
